What is a ‘circular economy’?

All the materials that we use in our lives would go around and around forever, and not end up in landfill or our seas.

It will be very difficult to achieve, but as the world moves towards better managing our waste and recycling more, in decades to come, our children will thank us for all these efforts. In the future, our world will be closer to achieving a more efficient circular economy.

The EU promotes the transition to a circular economy with innovative and sustainable business models, products and materials, therefore also contributing to the efficient functioning of the internal market.
