Which POLLUTING PLASTICS could be banned after the UK government’s public consultation?
The war on plastic waste is set to be ramped up with fresh plans to stop the supply of a range of single-use plastics that threaten our natural environment.
This proposal will lead to businesses seeking and using more sustainable alternatives.
Plastic litter can last for centuries in landfill or as litter in our oceans.
Around the world, more than one million birds and over 100,000 sea mammals and turtles die every year from eating or getting tangled in plastic waste.
UK’s ‘carrier bag charge’ has cut sales of plastic bags by 95% since 2015 in their supermarkets.
They have since increased the minimum charge to 10p and extended it to all retailers, which will take billions more bags out of circulation.
Now they are looking to go a step further to stamp out the unnecessary use of plastics that wreak havoc with our natural environment. Plastics such as single- use plastic plates and polystyrene cups.
The UK government is consulting stakeholders over the next few months.
